It goes without saying that 2020 was an unrpecidented year, as the Covid-19 pandemic swept the world.  This affected us all in some way shape or form, and Maltese Rugby was no exception.

As was our responsibility to the community at large during this period, we as a Union halted all local activities, as well as followed international body guidelines on the halting of international rugby participation. Till now the Union has managed to maintain its commitments and cut the costs necessary to hold off making such a request.  This is also thanks to the support of the Malta Olympic Committee and SportsMalta who’s funding has allowed us to also maintain certain programmes as part of our long term growth strategies.

Unfortunately, we had hoped to return to the pitch sooner, but the national situation has dictated otherwise and we still wish to do our bit to safeguard people’s health and well being.

However, we must now ask you for your help.  For us to make it into the new year and build up to the return to normal we all want, we require additional funding to maintain our operations long enough to rebuild and recoup our primary funding structures (Memberships and Revenues from Home International Matches).

All funds collected through this platform will be used to maintain operational costs for the MRFU, both towards Local Rugby Activities as well as those of the National Rugby Teams that will hopefully be back on the pitch representing Malta very soon.
